This Is Your Match If…
- The boat, the camper, the family — all at once, all summer.
- You want full-size presence with a hybrid doing the heavy lifting.
- Eight seats and real road-trip range.
- Lake Powell runs are a lifestyle, not a vacation.
My Take, Straight Up
I called my Sequoia blog post 'Big Tree Energy' and the name stuck for a reason: this is Toyota's full-size flagship, and every single one packs the 437-horsepower i-FORCE MAX twin-turbo hybrid. Power like a V8 era truck, fuel economy the V8 era never dreamed of.
For 2026 it got even more livable — including a power-folding third row standard across the board. If your summers involve a trailer hitch, this is the family room that tows 9,000-plus pounds.

Real Questions, Real Answers
Does the hybrid limit towing?
Opposite — the hybrid is the muscle. Massive torque from a stop makes trailer duty feel easy, and you get real fuel-economy gains when you're not towing.
Sequoia or Grand Highlander?
Towing and size. Serious trailer? Sequoia, no contest. Mostly people-and-cargo with occasional light towing? The Grand Highlander is easier to live with daily. I'll size it to your actual weekends.
TRD Pro or Capstone?
Dirt or luxury — pick your personality. TRD Pro is the adventure spec; Capstone is the first-class cabin. Both make an entrance.
